The Cave Art
The Lascaux cave paintings in southwest France date back 15,000 years. Those found in Altamira in northern Spain are some 17,000 years old. The repertoire of caves have been the canvas for education, expression, culture and inspiration for over 40,000 years. Archaeological and anthropological technologies continue to unveil compelling substantiation that connect them to the very soul, decoding primal etchings that provided pivotal keys to replicate existence of civilizations through artistic expression. These renderings have become vital symbols of wonder and awe, and a momentous bond to the power of art as communication through visual, cultural and gastronomic treasures. Caves are the radix of other treasures, creating rare gemstones in the unique way only nature can devise; the painstaking process of mineral residue layered over the course of centuries through stalactites and stalagmites which when meticulously harvested, have presented the world with the most spectacular, historic gemstones. The temperature and atmospheric environments are miraculously controlled by nature which allows these magnificent occurrences, and are particularly characteristic to the lava tubes that are the foundation of Hawaii. The natural synergy between caves and Hawaii where ancient tales of lore and monarchy still dwell, and petroglyphs have become global symbols of prosperity, strength, heritage and peace. Their subliminal mystery – primal and covert – yet undeniable in the creation of the most prized entities and discoveries will forever be a beacon of distinct, elusive allure.
It is on these ideals and intrigue that The Vintage Cave Honolulu was founded.
